Corpus Christi Liquefaction (CCL), a subsidiary of US LNG exporter Cheniere, and PTT Global LNG, a subsidiary of Thailand’s state-owned oil and gas company PTT, have signed a 20-year sale and purchase agreement (SPA) in which PTT Global LNG will buy 1 Mt/year (1.4 bcm/year) of LNG from Cheniere’s 15 Mt/year Corpus Christi LNG terminal in Texas (United States). Deliveries will begin in 2026. PTT has announced it aims to manage an LNG portfolio of 9 Mt/year (12.7 bcm/year) by 2030.
Earlier in July 2022, Chinese oil and gas company PetroChina and Cheniere also signed a 20-year SPA, in which PetroChina International Company will buy 1.8 Mt/year (2.5 bcm/year) of LNG from Cheniere’s Corpus Christi terminal.
In June 2022, Cheniere made a positive Financial Investment Decision (FID) on a 10 Mt/year expansion project at its Corpus Christi liquefaction and export LNG terminal project in Texas. Construction started earlier in 2022. The Stage 3 project will include 7 smaller LNG trains of more than 1.4 Mt/year each.
