Texas LNG secures FERC approval for 4 Mt/year export terminal (US)

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has re-issued the final order authorizing the construction and operation of the Texas LNG project and approved the project’s construction schedule — three months ahead of its previously anticipated release date.

Texas LNG is being developed by Texas LNG Brownsville LLC, a subsidiary of Glenfarne Group, LLC. The planned export terminal, with a total capacity of 4 Mt/year, is located at the Port of Brownsville, Texas. It will be built in two phases of 2 Mt/year each and is expected to begin commercial operations by 2028. Glenfarne is targeting a Final Investment Decision (FID) for Texas LNG by the end of 2025. Along with the final order, FERC has approved a construction timeline that aims to complete the facility by November 2029.

Texas LNG has secured long-term offtake commitments from EQT Corporation, Gunvor Group, and Macquarie Group, covering a sufficient volume to support FID. Kiewit has been selected to lead the project’s engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC).
