Tecnicas Reunidas wins building contract for Germany’s Stade LNG terminal

The Spanish engineering companies Tecnicas Reunidas and FCC, as well as Turkey's ENKA (through its subsidiary Entrade), have been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to build a 13.3 bcm/year LNG regasification terminal worth about €1bn and located in Stade, in north-western Germany.

The contract was awarded by the German company Hanseatic Energy Hub (HEH). The share of the project that Tecnicas Reunidas will handle is worth €500m, while FCC and Enka will handle the remaining €500m. The project is divided into two phases, a first stage of preliminary works and engineering with a duration of 5 months; and a second stage, that constitutes the main contract, which is subject to a final investment decision (FID) from HEH, scheduled for summer 2023. Completion of the project is expected for 2027.

Prior to the launch of the onshore LNG import terminal, Stade will welcome its first floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) as part of Germany’s plans to boost energy security and replace natural gas pipeline imports from Russia. HEH expects the completion by the end of 2023 of the new LNG jetty that will welcome the 170,000 cbm Transgas Force FSRU.
