Technip Energies has secured an EPC contract for Commonwealth LNG’s 9.5 Mt/year LNG facility in Cameron Parish, Louisiana (United States). Technip Energies had previously completed the Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) phase for the project, which will include five 50,000 m³ LNG storage tanks and accommodate LNG carriers of up to 216,000 m³ capacity.
In February 2025, the US government granted a conditional non-free trade agreement (non-FTA) export authorization for the Commonwealth LNG project, and in June 2025, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) reaffirmed its final order authorizing the project. Commonwealth LNG expects to reach a final investment decision in the second half of 2025, with LNG production targeted to begin in 2029.
The project gained significant momentum in May and June 2025, following the announcement of long-term binding LNG offtake agreements with global buyers, including Glencore (2 Mt/year), JERA (1 Mt/year), and Petronas (1 Mt/year).
