Taiwan approves the 300 MW Hailong 2A offshore wind project

The Taiwanese Ministry of Economic Affairs has approved the 300 MW Hailong 2A offshore wind project, located 50-70 km from the shore of Changhua county. The project is developed by Northland Power (60%) and Yushan Energy (40%). The two companies came up with a plan that meets the local content requirements to receive the country’s higher feed-in-tariff rate. They plan to work with Siemens Gamesa and CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering on the project, using Siemens-Gamesa’ latest SG 14-222 DD 14MW turbines.

The 300 MW Hailong 2A offshore wind project is part of the 1,044 MW Hai Long offshore wind complex, which also includes the 232 MW Hailong 2B and the 512 MW Hailong 3 projects; these two projects are not eligible to the same feed-in tariff rate, and consequently, subject to localisation requirements. The project is expected to be fully operational in 2025-2026.
