The Syrian government has signed an agreement for the construction of a 700 MW wind park under a project initiated by the Dubai-based energy group Marv Energy (Syrian Arab News Agency, 12/02/2026).
The project involves deploying 140 wind turbines manufactured locally at various Syrian sites. The 700 MW capacity will be connected to the national grid rather than allocated to a specific province, ensuring benefits are shared across all regions, according to the Syrian Deputy Minister of Energy for Electricity Affairs. He added that turbine installation sites will be selected based on available wind resources and speeds throughout Syria.
The UAE company will complete the installation in phases, with the project expected to take between five and seven years.
Over the past year, Syria has announced several energy initiatives aimed at stabilizing its electricity system, including:
- An agreement was signed in September 2025 with ACWA Power to install 1 GW of solar PV and 1.5 GW of wind parks.
- In November 2025, the government signed agreements with an international consortium (UCC, Kalyon, Cengiz Energy, and Power International) to build a total capacity of 5 GW, including four CCGT power plants totalling 4 GW, and 1 GW of solar capacity in four provinces (KEI, 10/11/2025).
