SWEPCO is seeking approval for 999 MW of wind and solar projects (US)

Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO), an affiliate of American Electric Power (AEP), is seeking approval for three renewable projects totalling 999 MW in the United States, developed by Invenergy, and representing a US$2.2bn investment. SWEPCO has applied for permission from regulators in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas to acquire the 201 MW Diversion wind project in Baylor County, Texas, expected in December 2024; the 200 MW Mooringsport solar project in Caddo Parish, Louisiana, and the 598 MW Wagon Wheel wind project spanning Logan, Garfield and Noble counties in Oklahoma, both expected in December 2025. The solar and wind projects were identified through a competitive bidding process. Following state regulatory approvals, AEP will file with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for approval to transfer the projects from Invenergy.
