SWEPCO (AEP) seeks proposals for 3.55 GW of capacity (United States)

Southwestern Electric Power (SWEPCO), an affiliate of American Electric Power (AEP), has issued three Requests for Proposals (RfPs) for renewable and short-term generating capacity totalling 3,550 MW, including 3,000 MW of wind, 300 MW of solar and 250 MW of short-term capacity. Bids are open until 12 August 2021.

Wind projects must be a minimum of 100 MW, interconnect to the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) and be located in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas or Missouri. Solar projects must have a minimum capacity of 50 MW, interconnect to SWEPCO’s transmission system within SPP and be located in the SWEPCO service territory. In addition, proposals for short-term capacity are required to be at least 50 MW from SPP resources. Projects are subject to regulatory approvals.

AEP has an installed capacity of 30 GW, including more than 5.5 GW of renewables.
