The Swedish renewable project developer OX2 has acquired the rights for a 475 MW solar power project located in Huittinen, south-western Finland, from the Finnish developer SAJM Holding. The Huittinen solar project is currently in development and the environmental impact assessment and necessary permits are scheduled to be submitted during the course of 2023. The solar park, which will become one of the largest power plants of its kind in Finland once operational, will generate enough power for the consumption of about 95,000 Finnish households.
In addition to the Huittinen project, OX2's project portfolio in Finland includes two solar power projects in Kauhajoki (500 MW Aurinkonevat project) and in Loimaa (60 MW Keinusuo project). OX2 currently has a global solar project development portfolio of about 4 GW.
At the end of 2021, Finland had 425 MW of solar capacity (only about 2% of the country’s total installed capacity).
