SUNOTEC has started construction of a 100 MW/441 MWh standalone BESS in Stendal, Saxony-Anhalt (Germany) with commissioning scheduled for the first quarter of 2027 (SUNOTEC press release, 31/08/2026).
SUNOTEC is delivering the project on a full-turnkey basis, covering engineering, installation and long-term operation and maintenance. WT Energiesysteme is constructing a new 110 kV substation to connect the storage facility to the electricity grid. The Stendal project reached ready-to-build status in the second quarter of 2026 under SECURSUN, the joint venture between SUNOTEC and securenergy. It is expected to rank among the largest battery storage systems in Germany once operational.
According to SUNOTEC, the company has installed 6.1 GWh of battery storage capacity across Europe and is expanding its storage activities in Germany as renewable power generation increases.
