SunEdison has acquired renewable energy assets and development companies. The acquisition consists of 336 MW of wind and hydropower assets from Renova Energia in Brazil (and ROFO for 1,870 MW of renewable energy projects), 150 MW from Honiton Energy Holding in China, 102 MW of wind power plants in India from Spain-based Fersa Energías Renovables, 119 MW of wind and hydropower assets and 865 MW under development in Latin America, 51% equity interest from Chint Solar (Zhejang) in the 23.1 MW solar project NSM 24 located in India, 70% interest in a diversified portfolio of projects with a gross capacity of 34 MW in South Africa, and 26 MW of solar power project under construction in Uruguay.
Through these combined transactions, SunEdison will secure 757 MW of operating projects and 1,918 MW of right of first offer (ROFO) projects.
In addition, SunEdison has been awarded a 86 MW solar photovoltaic project in South Africa during the fourth bid round of the Renewable Energy IPP Procurement Program organized by South Africa's Department of Energy. The Droogfontein 2 solar power plant will be located 20 km south of Kimberly in the Northern Cape Province. Eskom, the South African national utility, will purchase the solar energy under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA).
