Statkraft sells its 25% in the Dogger Bank offshore wind project (UK)

The Norwegian state-owned utility company Statkraft has sold its 25% stake in the Forewind Consortium developing the Dogger Bank offshore wind project in the United Kingdom. This announcement fits into the framework of Statkraft's strategy, which announced a divestment plan in October 2016, claiming the offshore wind investments were too "capital intensive".

The British energy supplier SSE bought a 12.5% stake and increased its whole share up to 37.5% while Statoil acquired the other 12.5% and increased its participation up to 37.5% as well. Innogy SE owns the remaining 25% equity in the project.

The Dogger Bank offshore project is made up 4 projects located in the North Sea (Dogger Bank zone) which are developed by the Forewind consortium and were awarded planning permission back in 2015. These wind farms are located 125 km from the shore and will have a joint potential generating capacity of 4,800 MW (1,200 MW each).
