Statkraft divests renewable assets in India, Croatia and the Netherlands

Norwegian state-owned utility Statkraft has announced that it will sell its assets in India, Croatia and The Netherlands to prioritise its investments in Europe and South America. According to the group’s strategy, Statkraft plans to cut its growth goals for solar, battery storage, and onshore wind, as well as their offshore wind and hydrogen ambitions. Hence, the company plans to divest on its onshore solar, battery and wind business in Croatia and The Netherlands, as well as solar and hydropower assets in India. Going forward, the company plans to focus on the Nordics, Europe and South America (Brazil, Chile and Peru), which it expects to increase the group’s competitiveness.

Statkraft announced in June 2024, that it plans to develop five major capacity upgrade projects in Norwegian hydropower plants, 6 GW to 8 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2040 in Northern Europe, and to have 1 GW to 2 GW in hydrogen projects past FID by 2035.
