Statera Energy has secured planning approval for the Sundon Storage, a 500 MW/4 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) near the Sundon National Grid substation in Bedfordshire (United Kingdom). The project, part of the UK’s long-duration energy storage (LDES) scheme, is designed as an 8-hour system, totalling 4 GWh.
The project, which is one of 77 projects currently under consideration as part of the Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) scheme, will expand Statera’s consented storage and flexibility pipeline to 5 GW.
