Squadron Energy acquires CWP Renewables (Australia)

Squadron Energy (part of the Australian Tattarang group) has taken over the Australian renewable project developer CWP Renewables and will integrate it into its existing business. CWP Renewables operates 1.1 GW of wind assets - including the 435 MW Murra Wara I&II and 270 MW Sapphire wind park - and has secured approvals for four additional wind projects in New South Wales (Australia) totalling 705 MW. CWP is also developing a 414 MW wind park, a 180 MW solar project, two battery projects and a firming power plant using hydrogen, biofuels and hydrogen gas blends.

Squadron Energy is developing the Port Kembla EnergyTerminal (a proposed floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) and the Port Kembla Power Station (gas- and green hydrogen-fired power plant) in New South Wales. The group also owns minority stakes in the Sun Cable project, a proposed high-voltage undersea cable that would export up to 2 GW of solar power from Australia to Singapore, as well as in the renewable project developer Windlab. In March 2022, Squadron Energy acquired the Clarke Creek wind and solar project from Lacour Energy and Goldwind in Central Queensland (Australia). Construction of the first 450 MW wind phase of the project has started and is expected in 2024; the second phase could be completed as soon as 2026. The AUD3bn (US$2bn) project is expected to include 1 GW of wind and solar as well as a 2 GWh battery.
