SPR gets developing consent for East Anglia 1 & 2 offshore wind project (UK)

The UK Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has granted development consent for the East Anglia ONE North and East Anglia TWO offshore wind projects. ScottishPower Renewables (SPR), the UK affiliate of Iberdrola, is developing its 3.1 GW East Anglia (EA) hub project, which combines three offshore wind power plants off the east coast of England (United Kingdom). The project, which merges 800 MW East Anglia 1 North, 900 MW East Anglia 2 and 1,400 MW East Anglia 3, requires an investment of £6.5bn (€7.7bn). The group has already secured planning consent for the 1,400 MW East Anglia 3 project. Iberdrola aims to start construction in 2023 and to commission the East Anglia Hub as of 2026. In February 2021, SPR selected Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) as the preferred bidder to supply and instal offshore wind turbines for the hub project.
