SPP signed supply contact with E.ON and GDF SUEZ

Slovenský plynárenský priemysel (SPP) and E.ON Ruhrgas have signed a 10-year contract on natural gas supplies to Slovakia. Under this contract, E.ON Ruhrgas will each year supply SPP with up to 500 mcm of gas from its western sources. A 5-year contract with GDF SUEZ has also been signed. GDF SUEZ will suply 500 mcm/year of natural gas to SPP. Gazprom export, the company with which SPP has a long-term contract, will continue to be the main gas supplier. Nevertheless, SPP plans to step up its diversification efforts even further to ensure that it can secure stable supplies of natural gas. The shareholders of SPP are the Slovak Republic through the National Property Fund (FNM, 51 %) and the consortium of the companies E.ON Ruhrgas and GDF SUEZ (49 %). In August 2009, SPP also signed a contract on natural gas supplies with Verbundnetz Gas (VNG). Under this contract, VNG has committed itself to supply SPP with up to 30 million cubic meters in the event of disruption or total stoppage of gas supplies from Russia.
