SPNEC plans to expand its Nueva Ejica solar project to 4 GW (Philippines)

Solar Philippines Nueva Ecija Corporation (SPNEC), a subsidiary of Filipino renewable company Solar Philippines, has announced its plans to secure at least 2,500 hectares of land in the provinces of Nueva Ecija and Bulacan to expand its 500 MW Nueva Ecija solar project by 3.5 GW.

This would mark SPNEC’s expansion of operations in the same area of the land secured for its 500 MW solar project, for which the first 50 MW and the transmission for the full 500 MW are under construction.

In June 2022, Solar Philippines was the main winner of the country’s first renewable auction as it secured five solar PV projects totalling 1.43 GW. The company was awarded three projects in the northern region of Luzon with 450 MW, 280 MW and 200 MW capacities, as well as a 300 MW solar project in the Visayas (central Philippines) and a 200 MW project in Mindanao (South).
