The Spanish energy group Iberdrola has published its 2022 results, in which the company posted a net profit of €4.34bn, an 11.7% increase compared to 2021. Iberdrola’s total revenues stood at €53.9bn in 2022, a nearly 38% increase compared to the previous year.
The group generated a total of 163 TWh in 2022 (-0.8% compared to 2021) including 37.5 TWh produced for third parties (mostly gas-fired generation with 37.3 TWh). 46% of the total generation came from renewable sources (74.7 TWh). In its own net production, Iberdrola generated 45.2 TWh from onshore wind (+9.3%), 23.9 TWh from nuclear (+3%), 21.3 TWh from CCGT (-15.7%), 20.5 TWh from hydro (-15.9%), 5.8 TWh from cogeneration (-18.7%), 4.5 TWh from offshore wind (-2.6%) and 3.8 TWh from solar (+43.6%).
Iberdrola generated 56.7 TWh in Spain (-7%, due to a 35% fall in hydropower generation), 55.9 TWh in Mexico (+3%), 22.7 TWh in the United States (+0.5%), 14.8 TWh in Brazil (-2.5%), 7.8 TWh in the UK (+16.5%) and 5.1 TWh in the rest of the world (+12%).
Iberdola’s total installed capacity reached 60.8 GW in 2022 (+4.2% compared to 2021), with 40 GW of renewables (+5.1%). 33% of total capacity came from onshore wind (20.1 GW), 27% from CCGT (16.3 GW including capacity for third parties), 23% from hydro and hydro storage (14.1 GW), 7% from solar (4.3 GW), 2% from offshore wind (1.3 GW), 2% from cogeneration (1.2 GW) and 0.3% from battery storage (198 MW). Most of the capacity was located in Spain (29 GW), followed by Mexico (11 GW), the US (9.5 GW), Brazil (5.1 GW), the UK (3 GW) and other countries (2.9 GW).
