South Pars phases 22-24 will join Iran's domestic grid in August

The Iranian authorities reported that the South Pars gas field phases 22, 23 and 24 (SP22, SP23 and SP24) will flow into the domestic gas network by the end of August 2017.

In April 2017, the Iranian authorities announced the start of the phases 17-21 and an output increase by approximately 150 mcm/d. The asset total production figures reach about 570 mcm/d and this figure accounts for nearly 65% of the country's total gas production (out of 885 mcm/d but 1 bcm/d are planned by the end of 2017). Iran invested US$20bn to complete the five phases and plans to produce more than 700 mcm/d of gas from all 24 phases of South Pars by 2018.

The North Dome Field/South Pars gas field is the largest in the world and is shared between Iran and Qatar, about 80-km north-east of Qatar's mainland. Its development on the Iranian side is divided into about 30 phases, 21 of which are active now. Phases 1-10 are intended for domestic consumption and injection into Iranian oil fields, while gas from the other phases should be exported. In July 2017, a consortium led by Total and CNPC has signed a contract with the Iranian national oil group, National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), for the development of SP11. SP11 will be operated by Total (50.1%), in partnership with Petropars (19.9%), a 100% subsidiary of NIOC, and the Chinese state-held oil and gas company CNPC (30%).
