Source Energie and Galileo form JV to develop 5 GW of renewables in Europe

The energy companies Source Energie and Galileo have formed a joint venture, named Source Galileo, in order to develop and build over 5 GW of offshore and onshore renewable energy and electricity storage projects across Ireland, the United Kingdom and Norway.

The offshore wind projects, whose capacities will range between 500 MW and 2 GW, will see the deployment both fixed and floating foundations. The energy produced will be exported either directly to the electricity grids or be used to produce green hydrogen.

As for the onshore side of the joint venture, three projects comprising solar PV and energy storage, totalling about 1 GW, have already been established across the UK. These projects will provide electricity to the UK grid either via direct injection or via energy storage batteries.

Prior to forming the joint venture, Source Energie led over 15 GW of wind and solar PV projects on a global scale, including 5 GW of offshore wind projects in UK and Ireland. Galileo, created in 2020, has an active pipeline of over 6 GW of solar PV, wind and storage projects across 7 European countries.
