Sonatrach will boost gas output at Tinhert field by 4.7 mcm/d (Algeria)

Algerian state-run oil and gas company Sonatrach has awarded a DZD70bn (US$600m) contract to the British oil services provider Petrofac to boost gas output at the Tinhert field (Illizi wilaya, Algeria) by an additional 4.7 mcm/d (1.7 bcm/year). Works are expected to start shortly and the project is slated for completion in 36 months with a deadline set for 2023.

The scope of work entails the construction of a new inlet compression and separation centre in the neighbourhood of the existing gas complex for the connection of 36 wells. The additional production will be shipped to the new separation and compression units and sent later to the existing facilities in Ohanet, also located in the Ilizi wilaya.

The Tinhert field currently produces 5 mcm/d (1.8 bcm/year) and Sonatrach plans to raise its total gas production to 20 mcm/d (7.3 bcm/year) by 2020.
