A project consortium including Algeria national oil and gas company Sonatrach (40%), Repsol (29.25%), RWE Dea (19.5%) and Edison (11.25%) has signed a major contract for the construction of a natural gas processing plant and infrastructure in the Algerian Sahara for the Reggane Nord project. The contract worth US$976m was awarded to Petrofac International (UAE) and stipulates completion of the facilities within 36 months (April 2017). After completion the plant will be operated with a gas throughput capacity of around 283 mcf/d (about 8 mcm/d and 2.9 bcm/year). A total of 26 development wells are planned to be completed during the first drilling campaign. The Groupement already awarded the rig contract in March this year to secure the necessary rig capacity for drilling and completion.
