The BW Singapore regasification vessel has been moored at the former Petra offshore platform, located about 8 km off the coast of Ravenna (Italy), which has been repurposed to accommodate the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU). The FSRU can store up to 170,000 mcm of liquefied gas and has a regasification capacity of up to 5 bcm/year.
In December 2023, Snam completed the €367m purchase of the BW Singapore FSRU to be moored at the Ravenna LNG terminal, located in the region of Emilia-Romagna (north-eastern Italy). The company has recently launched the tender to supply the first LNG cargo to BW Singapore for commissioning activities, comprising FSRU regasification plant operational tests and set-up. The LNG cargo is scheduled for delivery in March 2025 to provide the minimum level of LNG in the terminal’s tanks required for full operation
Once operational, the BW Singapore is expected to increase Italy’s total regasification capacity to 28 bcm/year.
