Slovenia commissions two 400 kV transmission lines

ELES, Slovenia's power transmission network operator, has connected the 2x400 kV Beričevo-Krško transmission line. The double-circuit line, the investment in which amounted to €63m, allows also additional electricity transmission between the neighbouring countries and helps improve the reliability of operation of the entire region. The transmission line has also enabled a greater access of Slovenian consumers to lower-priced energy and to the energy from renewable sources. By way of developing the network, the 2x400 kV Beričevo-Krško transmission line shall also contribute to further integration of the European market, while the construction of the transmission line has allowed also the construction of the digital highway of optical network of the Slovenian power industry. Studies related to the project were carried out from 1998 until 2006. After the conclusion of the easement agreements with the landowners and the issue of several partial building permits, the construction commenced in the autumn of 2011 and was completed in the fall of 2013.
