Slovenia and Croatia agree to expand gas interconnection capacity

Plinovodi and Plinacro, the gas transmission system operators (TSOs) of Slovenia and Croatia, have agreed to increase the capacity of their Rogatec gas interconnection (Plinacro press release, 20/05/2026). The expansion will specifically increase the gas supply from the Rogatec interconnection in direction from Croatia to Slovenia. According to the statement, both companies plan to cooperate on all necessary technical, legislative and operational activities for the timely offer of new capacities on the market, in accordance with EU’s legislation and agreements between the operators.

The Rogatec interconnection is undergoing the construction of different gas pipelines (the Bosiljevo - Sisak and Kozarac - Sisak sections) financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP). The new pipelines are expected to come online on 31 December 2026, increasing the capacity of the interconnection to 1.5 bcm/year
