SJVN Green Energy, a subsidiary of the Indian power company SJVN, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with AM Green Ammonia India for the development of 4.5 GW of wind and solar capacity for the production of green hydrogen in India. The MoU outlines plans for the potential power off-take on a long-term basis.
Under the deal, SJVN Green Energy will install between 2.5 GW and 3 GW of solar parks and 1.5 GW-2 GW of wind farms in total over three phases, with a capacity of 1.5 GW developed in the first phase within two years. The capacity will ensure the supply of about 11.5 TWh/year of renewable electricity to AM Ammonia, which will build a green ammonia production facility in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. The complex will be developed in two phases and will initially produce 1 Mt/year of green ammonia. The ammonia output is set to reach 5 Mt/year, equal to 1 Mt of green hydrogen, by 2030.
