Siemens will provide turbines for Rashid Al Maktoum-4 CSP project (UAE)

German engineering company Siemens will provide four steam turbines (700 MW) for the fourth phase of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai (United Arab Emirates). The supply includes three 206 MW solar steam turbines for three parabolic trough units and another solar steam turbine with an output of 108.5 MW for one central tower unit. The project is expected to be commissioned in 2020.

The fourth phase was extended in November 2018 from 700 MW to 950 MW. The Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park project is a giant solar PV and CSP project developed by DEWA. The first phase of 13 MW was commissioned in 2013 and the second phase of 200 MW followed in March 2017. The third phase (800 MW of photovoltaic capacity) will be operational by 2020 (progressive completion of three stages, with the first 200 MW phase commissioned in May 2018). The solar park is set to have an overall power capacity of 5 GW by 2030 for a total cost of AED50bn (US$13.6bn).
