Siemens Energy wins order for Mai-Liao Power's 2.4 GW CCGT project in Taiwan

The Taiwanese power company Mai-Liao Power Corporation, a subsidiary of the Formosa Petrochemical Corporation (FPCC), has signed an agreement with Siemens Energy to supply key equipment and provide long term service for a new 2,400 MW gas-fired CCGT power project in Taiwan (Siemens Energy press release, 26/05/2026).

The project will consist in two CCGT units, each rated 1,200 MW, including four SGT6-9000HL gas turbines, as well as generators, steam turbines, condensers and associated auxiliary equipment. When commissioned by the end of December 2029, the two units will be integrated into Taipower’s dispatch system, will replace 1,800 MW of the existing 4,200 MW Mailiao coal-fired power plant, and will generate around 14 TWh/year of electricity, around 5% of Taiwan's total power generation.

Siemens Energy has been involved in several energy infrastructure projects in Taiwan. In February 2025, the group announced that it would supply two gas turbines and related components for the 1.2 GW Kuo Kuang 2 CCGT gas-fired power plant and that it was also responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Kuo Kuang gas-fired power plant unit 1, which was commissioned in 2003.
