Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo), a subsidiary of Shell, together with Nigeria’s Sunlink Energies and Resources, has taken the final investment decision (FID) on the HI gas project, located offshore Nigeria. Once completed, the project will deliver 350 mcf/d (approximately 3.6 bcm/year) at peak production to Nigeria LNG (NLNG). Discovered in 1985, the HI field holds estimated recoverable resources of approximately 285 Mboe and is being developed under a joint venture between Sunlink Energies and Resources Limited (60%) and SNEPCo (40%). First production is expected before the end of the decade.
Shell holds a 25.6% stake in NLNG, which currently operates with a liquefaction capacity of 22 Mt/year and exports LNG to global markets. A seventh train is currently under construction, set to add an additional 8 Mt/year of capacity.
