Shell makes FID to develop a 18-38 bcm gas field in the North Sea (UK)

Shell has made a final investment decision (FID) to develop the 120 to 250 mboe (18 to 38 bcm) Jackdaw gas field in the British North Sea, 250 km off the coast of Aberdeen, Scotland. The field is expected to be operational in the mid 2020’s. The Jackdaw field is 100% owned and operated by BG International Limited, an affiliate of Shell U.K. Limited, which became part of the Shell group of companies in 2016. The field’s peak production is estimated at 40,000 boe/day and it will be tied to Shell's already existing Shearwater platform. The Jackdaw project had been initially rejected by the UK’s Offshore Petroleum Regulator for Environment and Decommissioning (OPRED) but received regulatory approval earlier in 2022 after Shell changed its environmental development plan.
