Shell and Gasunie's subsidiary Hynetwork have connected the 200 MW Holland Hydrogen 1 electrolysis plant at the Rotterdam Maasvlakte (Netherlands) to the first segment of the Dutch hydrogen pipeline network. The project, which is still under construction, will use technology from Thyssenkrupp Nucera to produce 60 t/year of green hydrogen, powered by the Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind park.
Gasunie has completed the 32 km pipeline section to transport the gas to the Shell Energy and Chemicals Park. This infrastructure has aimed to displace grey hydrogen use within the industrial complex. The project plans to operate as the first production unit connected to the national hydrogen grid.
