SGRE wins 376 MW conditional order for offshore wind project in Taiwan
A consortium of Macquarie Capital and Swancor Renewable Energy has conditionnally awarded an order to Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) for the supply of 47 wind turbines for the 376 MW Formosa-2 offshore wind project in Taiwan; the contract also includes a 20-year full service agreement for the project. Offshore construction should start in 2020.
Formosa-2 will be located in the Miaoli county, close to the site of the Formosa-1 power project, developed by Macquarie (50%), Ørsted (35%) and Swancor (15%); Formosa-1 will consist of 22 offshore wind turbines with a total capacity of 128 MW. It should be one of the first offshore wind projects to be commissioned in Taiwan, under a 5.5 GW offshore wind build-out programme by 2025.
