Sembcorp has reached an agreement with Chow Tai Fook Enterprises (CTFE) to acquire Alinta Energy from CTFE in a AUD6.5bn deal (US$4.3bn) that includes the company’s 10.4 GW pipeline of renewable projects and firming systems (Sembcorp press release, 11/12/2025). The deal is expected to provide Sembcorp with an established platform to accelerate renewables growth in Australia, while also increasing its exposure capacity to developed markets (Singapore and OECD). Sembcorp aims to grow its renewable capacity to 25 GW by 2028.
Alinta has been 100% owned by CTFE since 2017. The company has an owned and contracted generation portfolio of 3,400 MW across Australia and New Zealand, including gas, wind, solar, and coal, and is one of the largest energy retailers, generators and developers in Australia.
