SCT&E LNG has signed a fourth LNG offtake agreement related to its proposed 12 Mt/year liquefaction project on Monkey Island, in Cameron Parish, Louisiana (United States).
The company signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 2 Mt/year of LNG to an unnamed Asian energy company.
In August 2015, SCT&E signed a non-binding LNG deal with an unnamed state-owned utility company in the Asia Pacific region for the sale of 1 Mt/year of LNG. A second non-binding MoU was signed in September 2015 for 0.7 Mt/year of LNG with a South American counterpart developing an LNG import terminal in a country with whom the U.S. has a free trade agreement (FTA). A third non-binding MoU was signed in February 2016 for the sale of 1 Mt/year of LNG with one of Asia’s largest utility/power generation companies, which could later take a stake in the project.
The project is expected to start exporting LNG in 2022.
