ScottishPower plans 3.1 GW East Anglia offshore wind hub

ScottishPower Renewables plans to combine three offshore wind projects off the east coast of England (United Kingdom), namely 800 MW East Anglia 1 North, 900 MW East Anglia 2 and 1,400 East Anglia 3, into a single programme, the East Anglia Hub, with a total capacity of 3,100 MW.

ScottishPower Renewables, the renewable arm of Iberdrola's British subsidiary ScottishPower, plans to invest £6.5bn (€8.4bn) in the giant offshore wind project. The company has already secured planning consent for the 1.4 GW East Anglia 3 project and has submitted planning applications for the remaining 1.7 GW. It aims to start construction in 2022 and to commission the East Anglia Hub as of 2026.

ScottishPower Renewable has also developed the 714 MW East Anglia I offshore wind power plant located 50 km off the coast of the county of Suffolk (United Kingdom). The power plant, composed of 102 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines of 7 MW, required an investment of £2.5bn (€3.2bn). It will be fully commissioned in 2020.
