Saudi Arabia plans to tender 6 GW of CCGT+CCS plants in 2025

Saudi Arabia's Minister of Energy has unveiled that the country plans to tender 6 GW of gas-fired CCGT power plants projects with CCS in Saudi Arabia in 2025. These projects form part of a wider programme to upgrade existing power plants and build new CCS-ready, high-efficiency, CCGT power plants.

The Kingdom is targeting approximately 42 GW of new CCS-ready CCGT capacity by 2030. While 21 GW has already been tendered, 9 GW are currently under construction and 5.6 GW connected to the grid. Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) is procuring these power projects under the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model.
