Russia has delayed its plan to reach an annual LNG output target of 100 Mt by "several years," Russian Deputy Prime Minister told state TV Rossiya-24, attributing the delay to the impact of Western sanctions on the country's energy sector (Reuters, 25/12/2025).
“We will continue to develop liquefied natural gas production. Our goal was to reach 100 million tons per year by 2030. Clearly, this will be postponed by several years due to sanction restrictions,” he said. He added that Russian authorities still view LNG as "one of the main sectors and drivers of energy industry development," according to TASS.
On oil production, he stated that Russia’s oil output in 2025 will remain at the 2024 level of 516 Mt, with a potential increase of 2%, reaching 525 Mt in 2026. In the medium term, Russia plans to boost oil production to 540 Mt, he added (TASS, 25/12/2025).
Finally, he announced that Russia plans to build power generation facilities based on renewable energy sources with a capacity of around 17 GW by 2042.
