RusHydro's power generation in Russia rose by 8% in 2020

The Russian power group RusHydro has announced an 8.4% increase in its total power generation in Russia in 2020, to 148.6 TWh (including 17.6 TWh from the Boguchanskaya hydropower plant, in which RusHydro owns 50%, +9.5% on 2019). The company's hydropower generation rose by around 10% in 2020, despite the sale of 561 MW of hydropower capacity in Armenia, while thermal power generation remained broadly stable (+0.7%, despite the sale of the 1,467 MW Primorskaya GRES  to SUEK Group in June 2020). RusHydro's share in Russian power generation rose from around 12.5% in 2019 to 14% in 2020, both due to RusHydro's higher power generation and to an estimated 3% decline in power generation in Russia. Electricity consumption in Russia also declined by 2.3% in 2020, owing to a warmer climate and to political measures to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. RusHydro's electricity sales to retail companies dipped by 1.3% to 40.2 TWh (by -0.6% to 49 TWh, including sales in isolated energy systems that rose by 2.7%).
