The Russian power company RusHydro has published its 2017 operating results and reports an all-time high power generation figure of 140 TWh (+1.1% compared with 2016). Not taking into account the Boguchanskaya hydropower facility (13.3 TWh, -4.9%), RusHydro's hydropower generation increased by 1.7% to 127 TWh. The company's total installed capacity reached 39 GW in 2017 (+167 MW). This slight increase was achieved through the commissioning of the Yakutsk GRES-2 thermal power plant (193 MW) and through the modernization of several hydropower facilities (42 MW). Electricity sales on the retail market declined by 5.5% to 20.7 TWh, due to the sale of its Power Retail Company of Bashkortostan to Inter RAO in December 2016, a higher number of consumers switching to wholesale electricity purchases, and warmer weather.
The company is implementing its 2012-2025 modernization programme as planned and expects to have replaced 5% of turbines, 42% of generators and 61% of its transformers by 2025 (compared with 2012 levels). The implementation of the programme will increase the installed capacity of the company's facilities by 779 MW compared with 2011. Besides, it is expected to boost the total power generation figures by 1,375 GWh.
