RusHydro increased its power generation by 9.2% in 2016 (Russia)

The Russian power utility RusHydro has announced its 2016 full year results. The Group reported an EBITDA 36.7% increase from RUB73.3bn in 2015 up to RUB100.3bn in 2016 (respectively US$1.27bn and US$1.74bn ).



The company's net profit has increased by 46.4% from RUB27.1bn up to RUB39.7bn (respectively US$0.47bn and US$0.69bn).



This improvement mainly stems from the 9.2% increase in power generation (up to 125 TWh in 2016) : hydropower generation rose by nearly 16% to 95 TWh during the year, including 14 TWh (+6.8%) from the Boguchanskaya hydropower plant. In the main time, electricity generation by the plants of RAO ES East subgroup declined by 6.8% to 32 TWh, while the power generation from other retail companies dipped by 2.3% to 34 TWh.



In 2016, the company commissioned the 140 MW Zelenchuksaya hybrid power plant (Karachayevo-Cherkessia, Southern Russia), the 31 MW Zaragizhskaya hydro power plant in Kabardino-Balkaria (Southern Russia) and completed the construction of the Blagoveshchenskaya CHP power plant.
