RusHydro has commissioned the seventh unit (333 MW) at its Boguchanskaya hydropower plant (a 50/50 JV of RusHydro and UC RUSAL) in Russia. Total installed capacity of all units in operation by end of December is 1,998 MW, actual capacity accounting for lower reservoir level is 1,362 MW. Installation of the last ninth unit of the plant is currently underway. The first three 333 MW hydropower units of the Boguchanskaya HPP were put into operation on November 26, 2012, the fourth hydropower unit was launched on January 21, 2013, unit №5 – on November 5, 2013 and unit 6 on December 6, 2013. The plant has started commercial supplies to the wholesale electricity and capacity market from December 1, 2012.
Moreover, a seventh 640 MW hydropower unit was back to operation at the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydropower plant. In 2013, three hydropower units were commissioned at the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP with total installed capacity of 1,920 MW. The plant has produced 23 GWh in 2013. The new unit is the seventh one that was put into commercial operation as part of rehabilitation and comprehensive modernization of the Sayano-Shushenskaya station. Currently, the working capacity of the 6,400 MW plant is 4,480 MW with seven units in operation. The restoration of the units No. 3 and 4 continues and is planned to be completed in March and June 2014 respectively.
