The Russian energy group Rosneft has approved its new strategy "Rosneft-2030: Reliable Energy and Global Energy Transition", which aims to cut the group's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from Scopes 1 and 2 by 5% by 2025 and by 25% by 2030, thanks to the development of natural forest sinks, low-carbon power generation, zero routine flaring, energy-saving technologies, and carbon capture and storage (CCS). The group aims to reach zero routine flaring of associated petroleum gas by 2030 and to cut methane intensity to less than 0.2%. Rosneft will also expand its CNG network and its EV charging point network in Russia and boost the production and sales of aviation fuels with lower carbon footprint.
In the upstream sector, Rosneft targets a hydrocarbon production of 330 Mtoe by 2030, with most of the production growth coming from the flagship Vostok Oil project, from large new projects such as Russkoye, Yurubcheno-Tokhomskoye, Severo-Danilovskoye and Severo-Komsomolskoye, and from new gas projects such as Rospan or Kharampur. By 2025, the share of gas in Rosneft's hydrocarbon production should reach 25%.
