Rosatom's foreign equipment orders increased by 20.9% in 2016 (Russia)

The Russian state-held company Rosatom published its 2016 Annual Report and announced a revenue increase by 5.3% throughout 2016 and a growth of its overseas equipment and products orders portfolio by 20.9% up to US$133bn since last year, and by 74.6% over the last decade (2006-2016).

As of today, the company oversees the construction of 8 nuclear power units in Russia and 34 abroad in 12 countries. This figure enables Rosatom to be far away from its contenders Westinghouse, Areva and KEPCO (7, 5 and 4 worldwide nuclear power unit orders respectively). Most of Rosatom's foreign projects are located in Asia (India, China, Turkey, Iran) and also in Europe (Finland, Belarus and Hungary). In the meanwhile, Rosatom is participating in 25 negotiations and tenders for the potential supply of new units.

Rosatom's 2016 major achievement was the commissioning of the 1,000 MW Indian Kudankulam-2 unit in April 2017. In June, the Kudankulam-3 unit entered the construction phase with the pouring of concrete into the foundations.
