Romania approves the construction of a 308 km, 12 bcm/year gas pipeline

Romania has approved the start construction of a 308 km gas pipeline that will link the Neptune Deep offshore gas development in the Black Sea to the country’s gas transmission network. The new pipeline will also enable the delivery of imported natural gas to the southern parts of the country.

The project, known as Tuzla-Podisor, will include a 32 km offshore segment and a 276 km onshore segment, which will extend from Tuzla on the Black Sea shore to Podisor, west of Bucharest. The pipeline will have an annual capacity of 12 bcm/year and could meet about 45% of Romania’s gas consumption

Romania’s state gas transmission operator Transgaz has also awarded the construction job for the new pipeline to a subsidiary of Turkey’s Kalyon Group. Kalyon aims to complete the project in less than two years.
