Romanian energy developer Rezolv is targeting an expansion of its renewable energy portfolio across Central and Southeastern Europe to between 4 GW and 5 GW by 2030, while also planning to develop the largest solar park in the European Union (Rezolv announcement, 17/07/2026). The company is set to begin construction soon on the 1 GW Damar Solar project in western Romania, with completion expected in 2028. According to the company's CEO, Damar Solar has reached the late-stage financing phase, with construction expected to begin in the near term.
The Damar Solar project comes as Romania accelerates the expansion of its renewable energy capacity while gradually phasing out coal and reinforcing its energy security. At the end of 2025, the country's total installed power capacity stood at 23 GW, consisting of 29% hydro, 27% solar, 24.5% thermal and 14% wind (Enerdata Global Energy & CO2 data).
Rezolv's 2.3 GW portfolio includes both solar and wind assets across Romania and Bulgaria, covering projects that are already operational, currently under construction, or in the late-stage financing phase.
