ReVolve aims to expand its Presa Nueva wind project (Mexico) by 300 MW

The Canadian renewable company ReVolve Renewable Power has signed land option agreements with private Mexican owners for an additional 10,500 hectares in the area adjacent to the company’s existing 400 MW Presa Nueva wind development project, in the north-eastern Mexican state of Nuevo Leon.  The agreements will allow to develop a third phase at the Presa Nueva project, adding up to 300 MW of new wind capacity. ReVolve Renewable Power has been developing the Presa Nueva project since 2018 and has already developed a 269 MW wind project (Dolores) between 2016 and 2019 in this area of Mexico.

In 2021, Mexico had 9.3 GW of installed wind capacity, a 15% increase from its 2020 capacity and a 41% increase from 2019. Approximately 1.7 GW of wind projects are under construction in Mexico, and an additional 3 GW are planned or in the bidding process.
