Revera Energy reaches FID on 400 MW/800 MWh Hunterston BESS (UK)

Revera Energy has taken a final investment decision (FID) for its 400 MW/800 MWh Hunterston BESS in North Ayrshire, Scotland (United Kingdom) with construction set to begin in the third quarter of 2026 (Revera Energy press release, 12/06/2026).

The project is part of Revera Energy’s 1 GW/2 GWh Scottish portfolio, which also includes the 200 MW/400 MWh Windyhill project currently under construction in Glasgow and the 400 MW/800 MWh Kincardine project in Fife, scheduled to start construction in early 2027

These developments aim to support the UK's Clean Power 2030 framework by providing grid flexibility. In April 2025, the UK government updated its Clean Power 2030 Action Plan to target 27 GW of grid-connected BESS by 2030 (Enerdata’s Global Energy Research).
