Renalfa Power Clusters has acquired of two renewable projects in Romania and it plans to combine and merge them both into a single hybrid power cluster (Renalfa press release, 03/04/2026). The projects are the 365 MW Horia 2 solar PV project and a 400 MW/800 MWh standalone BESS project, both located in Arad County West Romania.
Renalfa plans to combine both projects and expand their installed capacity in two stages, with the expansion of the solar capacity to 568 MW and the expansion of the BESS capacity to 669 MW/2,000 MWh on the first stage, while the second phase will aim for the addition of another 400 MW/1,608MWh standalone BESS with the possibility of adding more solar capacity.
According to the CEO of Renalfa, the company aims to use three deep-tech innovations in its planned cluster: a hybrid dual-chemistry storage plan of Lithium-Ion and Sodium-Ion batteries, a grid-forming inverter technology, and a proprietary AI-driven dispatch and control platform.
