Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners has closed a AUD722m (US$451m) financing agreement for its 520 MW/1,856 MWh Supernode battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Queensland (Australia). Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners has signed long-term offtake agreements with Origin Energy for stages 1 and 2 of the project. The third stage of the project is expected to increase the overall generating capacity of the Supernode project to 760 MW/3,096 MWh.
The Supernode project, which is situated next to the central node of Queensland’s electricity network, is one of the largest battery projects currently under development in the country and it is planned to store excess solar energy generated throughout the day to then be shifted to meet evening peak demand, maximising the use of Queensland’s solar resources.
Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners is a specialist investment manager focused on the infrastructure needed to drive the energy transition in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia.
